As a disabled combat soldier it’s hard to find any enjoyable activities. For the most part, my PTSD and TBI have made life a real struggle. Most of my thoughts have been intrusive and quite disturbing. While at the Aspire Center, I have had the opportunity to get into the Dive program with Kym Larsen. This is a very new and rewarding experience. I had to learn to overcome some of my anxieties and work as a team, trusting other people. While under water I began to feel comfortable, relaxed and in control of my thoughts. It was a very inspirational experience that I find therapeutic. In many ways I would consider diving the most therapeutic experience that I have ever gone through. I plan to make it a major area of my future recovery and life.
