Veterans at the ASPIRE Center engage in multi-disciplinary therapeutic programming, including interventions that are focused on helping veterans return to productive work or school, obtain sustainable housing, teach healthy recreation (i.e. hiking, fishing, music, etc.), and enhance independent living skills (i.e. learning home management skills, budgeting, cooking).
The ASPIRE Center has appreciated the collaboration with Ocean Enterprises and The Nice Guys to teach our veteran diving skills, and hopes to continue this fruitful collaboration. Through this dive program, our ASPIRE veterans have learned critical communication skills, teamwork, wellness and coping skills. By becoming scuba certified, our veterans are now empowered to engage in this healthy and productive activity after discharge from the ASPIRE center. The ASPIRE veterans who have completed the dive certification have reported a tremendous benefit for their physical and mental wellness, and name scuba diving as an integral part of their recovery plan.
Through our collective efforts, we can help our nation’s heroic veterans transition successfully from military to civilian life.
The ASPIRE Center is a 40-bed residential facility aimed at promoting recovery for service members, particularly those veterans returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The ASPIRE Center provides temporary housing for veterans who do not need inpatient care, but would benefit from residential rehabilitation services for an average of 90-120 days.”
